Optical Illusions*
Just so you know, all you kids out there who have trouble spelling words:
I keep accidentally typing: "illustion" instead of "illusion" - and having to go back and correct it.
So we ALL make mistakes! I just wanted you to know.

This illusion is one of the few that someone did NOT name after themselves!
It's called The Café Wall Illusion.
St. Michael's Café, in Bristol, England, in 1979, was decorated in the front with black and white tiles.
Not your standard checkerboard tiles, though. They were off by about a half a tile, every other row.
Richard L. Gregory and Priscilla Heard, and a member of Mr. Gregory's lab, in 1979, noticed this created an optical illusion. |
